today announced that Tory Tory DesLauriers & Binnington (Torys), one of
Canada's leading business law firms, has deployed software from Fulcrum(R) as
its platform for enterprise knowledge management.  Torys will use Fulcrum
Knowledge Network(TM) as the foundation of their knowledge-sharing technology
initiative across the entire firm.

    Torys' knowledge assets comprise legal research, precedent agreements and
a variety of other documents stored in diverse file formats, including
Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Corel WordPerfect.  Torys intends to
also use Fulcrum to access Exchange folders, SQL Server databases, Lotus
Notes databases, legal specific Web Sites and the firm's upcoming Intranet.
Fulcrum Knowledge Network provides Torys' lawyers with the ability to leverage
their enterprise wide knowledge bases through a single point of access.
    Of particular interest to Torys is the enhanced Knowledge Map which can
be customized and which provides each user with a view of information sources
that have been indexed.  Portions of the underlying information sources are
grouped into Knowledge Folders by the system administrator and named according
to business logic as specified by Torys.  This provides users with a more
intuitive view into enterprise knowledge.  A tax law folder, for example,
could contain pointers to Exchange folders, file system folders and Web sites,
all of which contain information, research, precedents and historical case
materials related to tax law.
