Netscape and FDX Unveil Plans for Next Generation Internet Package Delivery Center

FDX and Netscape to Simplify E-Commerce Transactions for Millions With Online
Delivery Services Integrated With Netscape Portal and Browser

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. and MEMPHIS, Tenn., April 7 /PRNewswire/
-- Netscape, a subsidiary of America Online, Inc. (NYSE: AOL), and FDX Corp.
(NYSE: FDX), the parent company for Federal Express (FedEx) and RPS Inc., have
established a multi-year strategic agreement to offer businesses and consumers
a convenient one-stop portfolio of delivery services on Netscape's
fast-growing Internet portal, Netscape Netcenter. In addition, FedEx will
license Netscape's customized Internet portal service, Custom Netcenter, to
create a powerful FedEx Internet package shipping portal.
This alliance will benefit businesses and consumers by simplifying
e-commerce transactions with streamlined shipping for online purchases,
personalized package status tracking and the future integration of these
features with the Netscape Communicator Internet browser. The companies will
offer these features through a new Netcenter service called Delivery Center
and through a new FedEx portal customized to user requirements.
"Our goal in combining the strengths of Netscape's Internet software and
Netcenter services with FDX Corp.'s leading delivery services is to provide
Netcenter members with easy access to advanced, reliable and affordable global
package delivery," said Mike Homer, senior vice president and general manager
of Netscape Netcenter. "This agreement supports Netscape's strategy of
providing consumers and businesses with the smart tools and services that
allow them to take charge of their Internet experience."
"Electronic commerce needs practical and effective services to continue
its dramatic growth," said Dennis Jones, executive vice president, Information
and Logistics Services, and chief information officer, FDX Corp. "FDX and
Netscape will offer leading-edge e-commerce solutions that provide Netcenter
members with the muscle needed to operate in a wired global environment."
The agreement is expected to provide Netscape and FedEx with access to new
customer and revenue generating opportunities. For Netscape, the agreement
furthers its strategy of providing the best information and services for
businesses and consumers through the Netcenter portal. For FedEx, the
agreement will showcase the strength of its leading shipping services and
related information services to the millions of Internet users who visit
Netcenter each day.
Consumers will be able to access Delivery Center by pointing their
browsers to Netcenter at http://home.netscape.com . Among the services that
will be available over the next several months are:

    * FedEx shipping services available for all Netcenter e-commerce
transactions -- FedEx will be the pre-selected carrier on Netscape Store for
purchases made on the Netcenter General Store and Software Depot
    * FedEx Custom Netcenter -- this shipping-focused, FedEx Internet portal
will be built using Netscape's powerful Custom Netcenter service and will
combine Netcenter content with FedEx services
    * Delivery Center -- a standalone program accessible from the Netcenter
portal where customers can track packages, easily ship FedEx packages online
with FedEx interNetShip(R), get shipping rates, locate package drop off points
and access the latest information on FedEx and RPS services
    * My Netscape Delivery Channel -- to enable customers that customize their
personal start page on the web to include the FedEx and RPS services they use
often, such as tracking, FedEx interNetShip, rate finder and drop-off locator
    * Netscape Address Book integration -- this new service will be available
as part of the Netscape Contact address book and will allow consumers to
easily print shipping labels from their address book contact lists

The first Netscape services scheduled to be available are the Delivery
Center and the My Netscape Delivery channel.
