ClickAction ERM 5 Sets New Industry Standard With Smart Personalization
Engine, Open Data Exchange and Self-Serve Campaign Management Features

    PALO ALTO, Calif., April 7 /PRNewswire/ --
ClickAction(TM) Inc. (Nasdaq: CLAC), a leader in permission-based email
marketing, today announced the release of ClickAction Email Relationship
Management (ERM) 5, the company's next generation email marketing system that
was introduced at the Forbes Galleries in New York City on February 3.
ClickAction ERM 5 provides enhanced database integration, targeting and
personalization capabilities so clients can establish meaningful, one-to-one
dialogues with customers and improve customer retention and profitability.
The system also offers a streamlined user interface and sets a new standard
for scalability and reliability. After a rollover earlier this week,
ClickAction ERM 5 is now in use by all of the company's B-to-C and B-to-B
clients.

ClickAction ERM 5 is built on BEA System's WebLogic platform that supports
high-volume email campaigns and integrates with Java-centric Web-based and
enterprise applications. Enhancements to ClickAction ERM 5 will be phased in
throughout the quarter, giving clients these capabilities:

-- Smart Personalization. The "smart" rules engine, which adds business
logic to ClickAction ERM, automates and expedites the process of database
segmentation. The rules engine enables clients to develop and execute email
campaigns that reflect an in-depth understanding of each customer, including
their interests, purchase behavior, email campaign responses and more.
Clients simply define their rules and with one click, query the ClickAction
ERM profile database to produce highly targeted segments.
-- Data Exchange with External Sources. ClickAction ERM offers data
exchange capabilities that make it easy to combine a client's enterprise data
with information in the ClickAction ERM profile database, enabling clients to
leverage all customer data and perform one-to-one segmentation and targeting.
Clients can integrate data from multiple touchpoints such as call centers,
stores and e-commerce transactions.
-- Self-serve Campaign Management. Clients can easily take control of
their email marketing campaigns with ClickAction ERM's intuitive interface.
They can learn the application in just a few hours, no matter what their level
of technical expertise. Using the campaign manager, clients can develop and
send personalized text, HTML, rich media and ClickForward(TM) viral marketing
campaigns. They can choose from several pre-designed email templates or
customize their own.
-- In-bound Email Processing. ClickAction ERM handles all email
processing and is scalable to a client's needs. The service offers a built-in
rules-driven system that quickly routes email campaign replies, auto-replies
and other inbound communications. Inbound emails that require a personal
response, such as a request for more information, can be routed to a Customer
Service department or any agent in your organization. ClickAction ERM also
automatically removes "unsubscribe" requests and bounce-backs.
-- Real-time Tracking & Reporting. With each email campaign, ClickAction
ERM captures and summarizes customer responses in real-time, allowing clients
to see results as they develop. Summary and detailed reports contain the
information clients need in an easy-to-use, Web-based format. In addition,
the new system allows large data sets to be modeled and exported to external
applications for analysis.
-- Permission Profiling. ClickAction ERM expands the permission profile
database with information related to customer opt-in interests, demographics
and behaviors, and makes this information accessible to clients as they plan
campaigns. Information in the profile is gathered from sources across the
enterprise, providing an "enterprise view" of customers that optimizes
one-to-one relationships.

"The launch of ClickAction ERM 5 marks the next milestone in delivering an
industry-standard email marketing application," said George Grant,
senior vice president of marketing for ClickAction. "It not only extends our
already powerful direct marketing tools but also establishes a solid
foundation for expanded Java-based functionality and integration with the
entire e-business infrastructure."
