Ryder Appoints Chris Steilberg Vice President, Talent

    MIAMI, April 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Ryder System, Inc. (NYSE: R), a
global leader in transportation and supply chain management solutions, today
announced the appointment of Robert Christopher (Chris) Steilberg, Vice
President, Talent.  In this new role, Mr. Steilberg will be responsible for
leading Ryder's employee development initiatives, succession planning and
staffing initiatives for future growth reporting to Jennifer Thomas, Chief
Human Resources Officer.
    Mr. Steilberg joins Ryder from Burger King Corporation, where he most
recently served as Senior Director of Talent and Organization Development.
In that role, he designed and orchestrated worldwide talent management and
development systems and was instrumental in achieving a solid cultural
foundation to further the leadership goals of the Company.  Earlier, he was a
senior consultant with MCIWorldCom and The Coca-Cola Company in Atlanta, with
a focus on human resource planning and organizational talent development.

    Mr. Steilberg began his human resources career at the BellSouth
Corporation where he spent seven years in positions of increasing
responsibility from management assessment and development programs to
executive-level succession planning.
    Mr. Steilberg earned a Ph.D. and master of science degree in
Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Georgia Institute of Technology and
a bachelor of arts degree in Psychology with honors from the University of the
South.
    Mr. Steilberg is a member of the American Psychological Association, the
Society of Industrial/Organizational Psychology and the Human Resources
Planning Society.  He is a past president of the Atlanta Society of Applied
Psychology.
