Bit9 GSR is the most comprehensive source for identifying, authenticating
                           and trusting software

    SAN FRANCISCO, April 7, 2008 /PRNewswire/ -- Bit9, the pioneer and
leader in Enterprise Application Whitelisting, today announced the Bit9
Global Software Registry(TM) has accumulated more than 6 billion records,
making it the most comprehensive repository of information on software ever
compiled. Designed to help determine the authenticity and trustworthiness
of software, the Bit9 Global Software Registry has grown 300 percent in the
past year.

Along with the 6 billion record milestone, Bit9 unveiled two new
capabilities to its continuously updating Bit9 Global Software Registry:

    * The Bit9 GSR now aggregates data on software by categories, including
categories that traditional security and antivirus tools do not
detect, including: hacking tools, network sniffers, password crackers
      and denial of service tools.
    * By gathering a new rich set of software information tailored to the
Software Asset Management industry - including vendor names, product
names, software descriptions, SKUs - the data can be used for
software management and inventory. Bit9 has packaged this view in the
      new Software Asset Management Service.
"The Bit9 Global Software Registry is truly unique in the industry; it
is the largest software repository of its kind containing the most
comprehensive amount of metadata and intelligence about software," said
Mario Vuksan, director of research at Bit9. "Whether it is making other
technologies more accurate or whether it is integrated into software
distribution, patch management, and IT software distribution processes,
Bit9 GSR provides the visibility and intelligence enterprises need to
better control their computing infrastructure."

Until now, there has been no single source of information that provides
such broad coverage and in-depth knowledge about the world's software. The
Bit9 GSR allows customers and partners to establish the reputation and
threat level of new, unknown and unauthorized software by using 30
different antivirus and vulnerability scanners, in addition to its own
proprietary techniques, to assess a "reputation level" which can be used to
determine whether a software application is trustworthy or desired.

Enterprises using the Bit9 Parity Enterprise Application Whitelisting
solution benefit from the Bit9 GSR by receiving accurate and up-to-date
information on known good software to accurately whitelist applications.
Bit9 partners benefit from the Bit9 GSR by using its software metadata in a
variety of ways: to identify and authenticate software; augment threat
research; weed out false positives; analyze new, old and beta software with
multiple security scanners; and retrieve detailed threat factor information
on software.

The Bit9 GSR is used by corporations around the world, including
Kaspersky Labs, Guidance Software, Ziff Davis, Norman Data Defense Systems,
and others. The Bit9 Global Software Registry, Parity Enterprise
Application Whitelisting solution, and other offerings from Bit9 will be
demonstrated at the RSA Conference in booth #511 of the Moscone Convention
Center, April 7-11 in San Francisco.
