LightRiver Technologies Expands into Government Market with Lucent Technologies Products at FOSE Show

LightRiver to Exhibit at Largest and Longest-Running Technology Tradeshow
                         For Government Professionals

WASHINGTON, April 8 /PRNewswire/ -- LightRiver Technologies Inc., today
announced a new initiative to bring to the Government market a portfolio of
metro optical and access products from Lucent Technologies combined with
technical services from LightRiver.
LightRiver is one of Lucent's key accredited Business Partners in optical
networking in North America. A range of Lucent metro network solutions,
including the Metropolis(R) DMX Access Multiplexer, Metropolis(R) DMXpress
Access Multiplexer and the PacketStar(R) (PSAX) 4500 Multiservice Media
Gateway, will be exhibited at LightRiver's booth (Booth # 2235) at the FOSE
show in Washington, DC from Tuesday, April 8 through Thursday, April 10, 2003.
In addition to Lucent's complete line of optical networking platforms,
LightRiver provides government technology resellers with consultative product
solutions and services aligned to the specific needs of this market segment.
Advanced optical networking solutions include System Engineering and
Deployment, Remote Technical Support, comprehensive Network Management
Application Services and education and training.
"Even with cutbacks in federal spending in areas other than technology,
this year's budget has proposed significant increases over last year's $52.7B
in federal IT and Telecommunications spending to fund initiatives for Homeland
Defense, Cybersecurity and Enterprise Architecture," said Mike Jonas,
Executive Vice President at LightRiver Technologies. "These initiatives give
us and our partners a valuable opportunity to leverage our strengths."
The Lucent Metropolis(R) DMX family includes the DMX Access Multiplexer
for central office and large enterprise applications, the DMXpress for
customer premises applications, and DMXtend, now available, for enterprise and
loop access applications. All provide compatible next-generation SONET
functionality and serve as integrated Ethernet over SONET metro platforms.
When used together, the products in the portfolio create an end-to-end
solution that allows carriers to offer faster, more sophisticated services
while lowering operating costs.
The PacketStar(R) Multiservice Media Gateway portfolio includes the
PacketStar 1000, 1250, 2300 and 4500 (PSAX) products that deliver
multi-networking access, aggregation, VoDSL, circuit-to-packet switching
wireless backhaul and CDMA handoff for connecting low-speed devices to a
high-speed ATM infrastructure. These products give customers tremendous
flexibility with the ability to support any service -- ATM, Frame Relay or
Circuit Emulation -- over any channel in the network at any time on one single
module. The products also deliver end-to-end QoS capabilities, enabling
carriers to prioritize traffic -- IP (data) and circuit-based (voice) -- to
offer differentiated levels of service according to business needs.
FOSE, the largest and longest-running technology tradeshow for government
professionals, will be the first tradeshow in the new Convention Center in
Washington, DC, and will take advantage of the new space by showcasing a newly
developed Homeland Security Center. The Homeland Security Center will present
a mix of homeland security solutions presently employed by various local,
state and governmental agencies.
FOSE 2003 will take place at the new Washington DC Convention Center on
Tuesday, April 8 through Thursday, April 10, 2003. The trade show and
education program are free to government professionals. For more information
