Phoenix Technologies, Sierra Wireless, Utimaco, SafeNet among those
providing fully-integrated applications and functionality
SAN FRANCISCO, April 8, 2008 /PRNewswire/ -- RSA Conference -- The
Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) commitment to open
architecture continues to create more value for enterprises as new
companies join the OmniAccess 3500 Nonstop Laptop Guardian (NLG) partner
ecosystem. Invented by Bell Labs and incubated by Alcatel-Lucent Ventures,
the OmniAccess 3500 NLG leverages 3G networks to allow enterprises to
overcome the "mobile blind spot" by managing their laptops anywhere, any
time, even when the laptop is turned off. Secure, always-on,
fully-integrated third party applications and features offer enterprises a
choice of best-of-breed solutions along with visibility and control.
-- Phoenix Technologies provides encryption and recovery and
authentication services for the OmniAccess 3500 through its FailSafe
theft deterrence and SecureCore Pre-Boot Authentication (PBA)
services.
-- Sierra Wireless was selected by Alcatel-Lucent to provide the modems
for the OmniAccess 3500 NLG CDMA cards, which are currently sold by
Sprint under the Sprint Secure Laptop Guardian solution. The NLG is
currently available to enterprises through Sprint as the SprintSecure
Laptop Guardian. Sprint was the first carrier in the United States to
make the service generally available. Sierra is also providing HSPA
modems for the new OmniAccess 3500 NLG HSPA solution.
-- Utimaco Safeware AG is integrating its SafeGuard Enterprise data
security solution with OmniAccess 3500 NLG to enable policy
configuration and administration for device and data protection, as
well as pre-boot authentication.
-- QuickSec VPN software from SafeNet has been integrated into the
OmniAccess 3500 to enable optimized always-on VPN security features
and seamless roaming regardless of connection type.
"Our demonstrated commitment to openness allows multiple patch
management, backup/restore and equipment vendors to integrate their
applications into the OmniAccess 3500 Nonstop Laptop Guardian to better
meet specialized business needs," said Michel Emelianoff, Vice President of
Alcatel-Lucent's Enterprise security activities. "Today and tomorrow, IT
departments are benefiting from these types of partnerships to secure the
evolving mobile workforce."
Key benefits provided by the Alcatel-Lucent OmniAccess 3500 NLG and its
partner ecosystem include: 100% patch management enabling delivery of
software updates to laptops even when turned off; "remote kill" deletion of
encryption keys and certificates to secure lost or stolen laptops; off
hours backup and restore even for laptops that are turned off; 24/7 asset
and configuration management control over all device configurations;
two-factor authentication eliminating the need for additional
authentication devices by using the NLG as a remotely controlled SmartCard;
and laptop location information to locate lost or stolen laptops or apply
policies based on laptop location.
By working with its partners across its enterprise portfolio,
Alcatel-Lucent provides customers with a rich, reliable set of certified
solution options. Depending upon the relationship, partners may also
undertake joint marketing, reselling and development projects with
Alcatel-Lucent.
