Securealink Introduces Secure Cryptographic Processor for Mid-Range Applications Requiring Enhanced Security

PCC2010 Fulfills Market Demand for a Cost-Effective Cryptographic IC

SAN FRANCISCO, RSA CONFERENCE, April 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Securealink, a
leading provider of Security Solutions in Silicon(TM) today announced the
newest member of its cryptographic processor chip family -- the PCC2010. The
chip specifically targets market segments that are rapidly moving towards
high-assurance security requirements. The PCC2010 gives security system
designers for such applications as secure socket layer (SSL), gaming, and
point-of-sale devices such as automated teller machines, a substantial
price/performance break, and a chip that is extremely fast and easy to design
in.
"Security is rapidly growing in importance in almost every segment of our
lives," said Cees Jan Koomen, Securealink chairman. "The PCC2010 allows
Securealink's proven cryptographic technology -- developed over the past
15 years -- to become the security foundation in a myriad of new applications
-- from ATMs to slot machines."
The PCC2010 operates at a clock speed of 25 MHz, and has an impressive
private-key performance of 344 encryptions/second, together with a 32-bit
on-chip RISC processor, true random number generator, secure memory, and
symmetric engines such as 3DES and Hashing. These features combine to make
the PCC2010 ideal for point-of-sale terminals, gaming, automated teller
machines (ATMs), small office/home office (SOHO), low-speed virtual private
networks (VPN), as well as other applications requiring modem-rate
connections.
Securealink's PCC2010 connects to a microprocessor via an
easy-to-implement 16/32-bit interface. The result is a substantially faster
time-to-market at a much lower overall cost.
The PCC2010 will be housed in a 256-pin ball-grid array. Samples of the
new devices will be available during 2nd quarter, 2001. The chip will sell
for approximately $60 in volumes of 10,000 units.
Securealink is a leading worldwide innovator of "Security Solutions in
Silicon." Securealink provides secure high-performance ICs supporting
commonly used protocols. The company's secure chips are easily integrated
into VPN and SSL appliances and devices, as well as secure smart-card readers.
Providing cryptographic and privacy IC solutions since 1986, and with over
150 designs in the marketplace, Securealink offers unprecedented speed and
performance, and has the greatest depth and breath of experience currently
available in security IC design. Securealink maintains offices in Los Gatos,
California, and in Vught, The Netherlands.
