New Versions of RSA BSAFE(R) Cert-C and RSA BSAFE(R) Cert-J PKI-Enabling
Software Supports XML-Signing, OCSP and Additional PKCS Standards
RSA(R) CONFERENCE, SAN FRANCISCO, April 9 /PRNewswire/ --
RSA Security Inc. (Nasdaq: RSAS), the most trusted name in e-security(TM),
today announced RSA BSAFE(R) Cert-C 2.0 and RSA BSAFE Cert-J 2.0 security
software. The new versions of RSA Security's PKI-enabling solutions offer
developers support for important B2B protocols like Online Certificate Status
Protocol (OCSP) and XML-signing, already required by many institutions in the
financial industry. Designed to simplify and secure B2B and enterprise
applications, RSA BSAFE Cert products provide developers with all the
certificate-processing capabilities and cryptographic software necessary to
securely "PKI-enable" any business.
RSA BSAFE Cert-C and RSA BSAFE Cert-J software is designed to help
independent software vendors, enterprises and e-business service providers
create applications that seamlessly and automatically interoperate with
multiple existing PKI products, reducing risk and protecting customers from
being locked into one vendor or PKI implementation. The latest enhancements
include support for the Online Certificate Status Protocol (OCSP), enabling
applications to quickly check the validity of a user's digital certificate in
real-time. For large financial transactions, the power to check the
up-to-the-minute certificate status of the user is invaluable. Many in the
financial industry, for instance Identrus-compliant financial institutions,
must provide OCSP functionality today in their B2B applications.
In addition, RSA BSAFE Cert-J software is designed to offer XML-signing
functionality, allowing Java developers to build strong data integrity and
authentication capabilities into their B2B applications. Users of the
application can then digitally sign and send vital bits of information, like
an order or contract, on-line securely.
Finally, RSA BSAFE Cert products feature support for the PKCS#11 and
PKCS#12 standards. These cryptographic standards enable interoperability with
hardware accelerators and smart cards and allow applications to import and
export a user's private keys or digital certificate.
"In today's demanding e-business environment, we have increased our
reliance on tough and stringent security solutions to safeguard our customers'
and our own business applications. With this climate in mind, we selected RSA
Security's products," said Pat Gillogly, vice president of infrastructure
management at Genuity. "We chose the RSA BSAFE Cert security software for its
compatibility with the RSA Keon(R) solution, used as the basis for Genuity's
Public Key Infrastructure. By using RSA BSAFE software, we have extended a
secure, trusted PKI environment to our customers, providing a stronger
authentication solution."
"Businesses are using the Internet more than ever to conduct critical
business -- between employees, partners, re-sellers and their supply chain.
They are looking for shortcuts to deploy this technology quickly and
securely," said Bill McQuaide, vice president of product marketing at RSA
Security. "The enhancements made to the RSA BSAFE Cert products were designed
with the developer in mind and have been thoroughly tested for multi-vendor
interoperability."
RSA BSAFE Cert software is designed to reduce the effort and in-depth
expertise required to develop PKI-enabled applications by managing all the
details of digital certificate requests, retrieval, validation, storage and
revocation, and is designed to allow developers to quickly create an
application that can be deployed across multiple platforms. The RSA BSAFE
line of security software is embedded in today's most successful Internet
applications, including Web browsers, wireless devices, e-commerce servers,
e-mail systems and virtual private network products. Built to provide tested
and secure implementations of standards such as SSL, SMIME, WTLS, IPSec and
PKCS, RSA BSAFE products can save developers time and lower risk in missing or
delaying their development schedules.
