Enterprise Networks Gain Strong Authentication and Managed Security Through the Interoperability of Siemens' ID Center/Mouse and Tiny Software's Centrally Managed Desktop Security (CMDS) System

RSA Conference, SAN FRANCISCO, April 9 /PRNewswire/ -- To further
safeguard against internal network security breaches, Siemens' Program and
System Engineering (PSE) TechLab today announced compatibility between the
company's ID Center solution with the Siemens ID Mouse(TM) and Tiny Software's
Centrally Managed Desktop Security (CMDS) product to deliver improved security
and management capabilities to enterprise networks.
With Siemens' ID Mouse(TM) pointing device, users achieve strong
authentication to the network. Tiny Software's CMDS integrates desktop and
server security with centrally managed administration of the network devices.
"The combination of the Siemens ID Center with the ID Mouse(TM) and
Tiny Software's CMDS provides one of the highest levels of network node
authentication and security available today" said Gerald Schwartz,
vice president and general manager of the Siemens' PSE TechLab in San Jose,
California.
Siemens' ID Center is a secure, economical and convenient authentication
solution. By implementing biometric authentication technology, ID Center
combines the enhancement of network security with an easy and convenient way
of verifying a users' identity. The Siemens ID Mouse(TM) is a
Microsoft-certified, ergonomic mouse device with integrated biometric
functionality. The ID Mouse is easy to install, easy to use -- right or
left-handed -- and has a high-quality FingerTip(TM) sensor integrated into the
mouse device.
Tiny Software's CMDS is a distributed firewall system, designed to manage
all internal network traffic including activity generated by remote users. A
desktop security engine or firewall resides on each client computer or node
within the network. Logging onto a desktop computer generates an
authenticated user profile within the central administration server and
initiates security settings for the given desktop. The security settings,
which are based on a user's profile, are remotely configured and managed by
the system administrator. The desktop security engine reports intrusion events
and user activity to the central administration server that maintains users'
security profiles.
Tiny Software's CMDS won the Best New Technology Award in Security
Products at FOSE 2001. FOSE, the largest government-focused IT trade show in
North America, was held at the Washington Convention Center in
Washington, D.C. March 20-22, 2001.
