BestNet Retains Specialized Consulting Firm To Help Monetize Intellectual Property Assets

    GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., April 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --
BestNet Communications Corp. (OTC Bulletin Board: BESC), an emerging provider
of Internet-based technology solutions, today announced it has engaged
Chicago-based Creative IP Solutions to help maximize the value of its
intellectual property. Creative IP Solutions is a consulting firm that
specializes in intellectual property (IP) management and monetization.
Grand Rapids, Mich.-based BestNet said Creative IP Solutions will work
with management and the Company's newly engaged patent counsel to develop and
execute strategies for monetizing BestNet's intellectual property, including
its licensed, patented method of launching long-distance phone calls using
packet technology. The Bestnetcall service (http://www.bestnetcall.com ) uses the
Web to launch deeply discounted long distance calls that are connected via
regular phone lines. Corporate and residential customers in more than 120
countries use Bestnetcall, which requires no changes to existing phone systems
or any special hardware or software to operate.
"We have put together a topnotch IP team in order to capitalize on the
value of our intellectual assets," said Robert Blanchard, BestNet President
and CEO. "We believe Creative IP Solutions will have an impact by helping us
turn our intellectual capital into financial capital. Longer-term, our IP
team will aggressively pursue the more than 40 companies that we believe are
infringing on our intellectual property rights."
Creative IP Solutions, which is headquartered in Chicago, specializes in
helping clients manage and monetize their intellectual property. The firm has
created proprietary value identification and value extraction methods to
unleash the value from intellectual property. The members of Creative IP
Solutions bring expertise in the disciplines of law, finance, accounting,
international licensing and corporate intelligence, having worked for
privately owned entities, Fortune 500 companies, high net-worth individuals
and national CPA firms.
According to Chris Leisner of Creative Solutions, "Our clients turn to us
to structure innovative and repeatable programs to convert their patent
portfolios into positive cash flows. Our approach is to identify sources of
third-party cash flows that could be pursued by our clients and their legal
advisors. Those programs have taken the form of license agreements, lawsuit
settlements, structured debt and equity financings, and income tax deductions
from donations."
