New CryptoSwift 1000 Leverages New Design, New FastMAP 2 ASIC;
First SSL Accelerator With On-Board Secure Key Storage
IRVINE, Calif. and SAN FRANCISCO, April 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Rainbow-iVEA, a
Rainbow Technologies (Nasdaq: RNBO) company and a leading provider of Internet
and eCommerce security solutions, today introduced the CryptoSwift 1000, the
first member of the CryptoSwift family of eCommerce accelerators using the new
FastMAP 2 ASIC chip. The CryptoSwift 1000, developed for the OEM marketplace,
is the industry's first eCommerce accelerator with on-board secure key
storage. This security feature, combined with 1,000 transactions-per-second
(TPS) performance, makes the CryptoSwift 1000 the new standard providing fast
and secure online transactions for eCommerce and business-to-business (B2B)
Web-server performance. Rainbow-iVEA debuted the CryptoSwift 1000 at the 2001
RSA Security Conference.
The CryptoSwift 1000 uses the new FastMAP 2 cryptographic processor. The
new FastMAP 2 supports RSA 384-to-4096-bit encryption and is capable of
performing 1024-bit RSA operation as fast as 2,000 TPS. The CryptoSwift 1000
is the first eCommerce accelerator to use the FastMAP 2 chip. Future
CryptoSwift eCommerce acceleration products will leverage the performance of
the new chip with varying TPS ranges and price/performance benchmarks to give
customers the broadest range of eCommerce acceleration solutions in the
industry.
"The development of the CryptoSwift 1000 is a milestone in iVEA's
continued development of next-generation technologies for Internet security
and Web-server performance enhancement," said Shawn Abbott, president,
Rainbow-iVEA. "The CryptoSwift 1000 absolutely raises the bar on PCI-based
SSL acceleration, network scalability, and on-board secure key storage. All
other competitive accelerator boards store keys on the server's hard drive,
leaving the keys exposed to theft by malicious software or viruses. To date,
this feature has only been available in expensive hardware security modules.
These features, built into new CryptoSwift products in development, will
further extend on our lead in this increasingly important and competitive
market."
The CryptoSwift 1000
Like other members of the CryptoSwift product family, the CryptoSwift 1000
optimizes Web-server performance while providing rapid transaction-per-second
acceleration of the most popular and robust encryption processes. The
CryptoSwift 1000 allows today's high-capacity eCommerce Web-server sites to
handle substantially more traffic, securely, with virtually no end-user
waiting.
The CryptoSwift 1000 easily plugs into an open PCI slot of virtually any
Web-server platform and the initial release supports Web-server software
packages from iPlanet and Apache. The CryptoSwift 1000 accelerates popular
security protocols such as SSL/TLS, WAP/WTLS, S/MIME, IKE/IPSec and others.
Cryptographic keys can be stored on-board and the CryptoSwift 1000 gives users
the ability to automatically clone keys across multiple cards in a server.
Backup and restore operations have been simplified, and the CryptoSwift 1000
supports on-board storage for up to 50 RSA keys.
The CryptoSwift 1000 is the ideal card for environments that
require a high degree of performance and security. Target markets
include: online retail applications, electronic stock trading, financial
services, payment gateways, medical records processing, and other online
services for business-to-business (B2B), business-to-consumer (B2C), and
business-to-government (B2G) eCommerce.
