Oxford Health Plans Launches First Web Site for Medicare Beneficiaries

TRUMBULL, Conn., April 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Oxford Health Plans, Inc.
(NYSE: OHP) today announced the launch of its first web site designed
specifically for Medicare-eligible beneficiaries. This new Oxford site
provides information about healthcare insurance options for Medicare eligible
beneficiaries, including Oxford Medicare Advantage(SM) (OMA) plans, Oxford's
Medicare+Choice program, as well as related information concerning Medigap and
traditional Medicare.
"The resources available on the web pertaining to Medicare and the
additional healthcare coverage options offered to Medicare beneficiaries are
often limited and difficult to navigate," said Peter D. Haytaian, vice
president of government programs and specialty businesses. "Oxford's web site
provides clear, concise information to help Medicare beneficiaries select the
healthcare option that best meets their needs."
Through the web site, Medicare beneficiaries can access information about
the various OMA plans, benefits and services, locate an OMA-participating
physician, download Medicare and Oxford forms, and locate Oxford Medicare
events being held in the five boroughs of New York City, including
informational breakfast seminars, health fairs and other community events.
Individuals interested in accessing the new Oxford Medicare Advantage web site
can visit http://www.oxfordhealth.com/oxford_medicare_advantage. General health and
wellness information is available through Oxford's main site at
http://www.oxfordhealth.com.
According to Forrester Research, individuals over the age of 65 are the
fastest growing demographic on the web, with nearly three-quarters using the
web to access health-related information about specific health conditions,
treatment options and health plan choices.
"Currently, we are looking into adding transactional tools to the web site
so our members can change their primary care physician or personal contact
information, and check on claims, benefits and referrals online," said
Haytaian.
Oxford Medicare Advantage (OMA), through its various plans, offers members
a host of health promotion programs and benefits including exercise classes,
walking clubs, diabetes and lung disease workshops, nutrition consults, and
podiatry, vision and hearing benefits. OMA members also receive access to
Oxford's extensive OMA network of providers and specialists, and access to
Oxford's credentialed network of complementary and alternative medicine
practitioners including, chiropractors, acupuncturists, yoga instructors,
massage therapists, nutritionists and, in Conn., naturopaths.

Founded in 1984, Oxford Health Plans, Inc. provides health plans to
employers and individuals in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, through its
direct sales force, independent insurance agents and brokers. Oxford's
