Coresma Selects RSA BSAFE(R) Encryption Software to Develop Secure Modem
Solution for Set-Top Boxes, Home Gateways and Internet Appliances
RSA(R) CONFERENCE, SAN FRANCISCO, April 11 /PRNewswire/ --
RSA Security Inc. (Nasdaq: RSAS), the most trusted name in e-security(TM),
announced today that Coresma, a leading provider of programmable broadband
technology, has licensed RSA BSAFE(R) Crypto-C and RSA BSAFE Cert-C software.
The company has incorporated this software into one of the industry's first
host-based cable modems, the Coresma CICM 6001RD. In combination with
RSA Security's software, Coresma has designed this new internal modem to meet
the Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification (DOCSIS) 1.1, which was
established by Cable Television Laboratories, Inc. (CableLabs) to provide
cable operators with the ability to authorize a subscriber's access to
broadband programming.
"To reach the consumer market on a mass scale, it is critical that
manufacturers introduce innovative new modem products that provide a high
degree of security at a reasonable cost," said Chris Kukshtel, vice president
of marketing for Coresma. "By strategically partnering with industry leader
RSA Security, Coresma is able to meet this need by introducing the CICM, an
ideal, open standards solution for makers of set-top boxes, home gateways and
Internet appliances."
"Coresma has taken the DOCSIS specification and combined it with
RSA Security software to introduce an exciting new cable modem solution," said
Bill McQuaide, vice president of product marketing at RSA Security. "We are
pleased to strategically partner with Coresma and believe strongly that our
joint commitment to innovation and quality will play an important role in
furthering DOCSIS compliance to enable cable industry expansion."
The RSA BSAFE line of security software is embedded in today's most
successful Internet applications, including Web browsers, wireless devices,
commerce servers, e-mail systems and virtual private network products. Built
to provide implementations of standards such as SSL, S/MIME, WTLS, IPSec and
PKCS, RSA BSAFE products can save developers time and risk in their
development schedules.
