BOSTON, April 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Sovereign Bank announced that Thomas
J. McAuliffe has been appointed executive vice president and managing
director of Human Resources. Based in Boston, McAuliffe is responsible for
overseeing all activities related to employment, employee relations,
performance management, compensation, and benefits administration for the
company.

Prior to joining Sovereign in 2006 McAuliffe served as corporate vice
president of Human Resources for the MENTOR Network, a national human
services firm focused on people with developmental disabilities, children
with behavioral problems and individuals with acquired brain injuries.
Previously, he was corporate vice president of Human Resources for
Renaissance Worldwide, an international IT and Management Consulting firm
with offices in more than 70 global locations.
A licensed attorney, McAuliffe received his J.D. from the New England
School of Law. He is also a graduate of the University of Dayton in Ohio.
McAuliffe is an active member of the Human Resources Management Group,
the Massachusetts Bar Association, the Federal District Court Bar and the
Society for Human Resources Professionals. He resides in Belmont with his
wife and three children.
