Development presented the award on Wednesday, April 11th, at the Software

Latest Honor for Market Leader
"Two years ago, VMware brought to market a high-quality, first-of-its-kind
product that is highly valued by users in the developer and IT communities,
"said Diane Greene, founder, president and chief executive officer of VMware.
"It is extremely gratifying to see our efforts and achievement formally
recognized with the winning of the Jolt Award."
The first company to build and ship virtualization software for Intel
platforms from the ground up, VMware has over 600,000 registered users in over
100 countries. In addition to its Workstation products, VMware sells two
server products. VMware GSX Server offers enterprise IT customers a powerful
server consolidation and simplified management solution that fits easily into
their existing environments. VMware ESX Server is designed for
high-performance server environments for advanced workload management
capabilities and guaranteed quality of service (QoS).
The Software Development Jolt Product Excellence Awards are given to
products that have "jolted" the industry with their significance and made the
difficult task of creating corporate software faster, easier and more
efficient. Jolt, "the most powerful cola," is the fabled soft drink used by
software programmers to get them through complex development projects.
