ROYAL OAK, Mich., April 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Women in Communications of
Detroit (WIC-Detroit) will celebrate its 70th anniversary and honor top
level, innovative communicators at its annual Matrix gala event held May 8
at Vladimir's Banquet Center, 28125 Grand River Ave., Farmington Hills,
Mich.
Robbie Timmons, WXYZ-TV Channel 7 news anchor and author of a new
children's book, is the keynote speaker. This year's Matrix is a reunion,
featuring past presidents, speakers and special guests as well as honorees
in three communications award categories.
WIC-Detroit will present its annual Diamond Award to Ann Thomas,
Executive Producer of News/Talk 760 WJR Radio and its "Women Who Lead"
wjr.com series. The Diamond Award honors an individual or organization for
improving conditions for women in the workplace or portraying women
positively in media.
The annual Vanguard Award will go to Chrysler LLC, Auburn Hills, Mich.,
for innovative communications for its social and new media sites. Nancy
Rae, Senior Vice President-Human Resources and Corporate Communications for
Chrysler LLC, will accept the award for Chrysler. Chrysler is being
recognized for its Voices of Chrysler web blog and its Firehouse.biz online
site.
WIC-Detroit also will present this year's prestigious Headliner award
to Adrienne Lenhoff Wise, president of Shazaaam! LLC and BuzzPhoria, a new
social marketing enterprise, in Southfield, Mich. The headliner salutes the
outstanding personal and professional achievements of a WIC-Detroit member
who has risen to prominence in the communications field.
The Matrix event also includes a silent auction and reception beginning
at 5:30 p.m., with dinner at 6:45 p.m. The event is open to the public.
