    SOUTHFIELD, Mich., April 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Federal-Mogul Corporation is
exhibiting its latest aerospace sleeving and electromagnetic interference
(EMI) protection products at the 2003 MRO Conference and Exhibition April 15-
17 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

The annual conference features the latest in aviation maintenance, repair
and operating supplies (MRO). Major attendees include managers from airlines,
original equipment manufacturers, parts suppliers and distributors.
Federal-Mogul's Systems Protection group designed aerospace sleeving and
EMI protection technologies to improve the performance and increase the life
span of aerospace wire and cables. In addition to providing product
demonstrations, Federal-Mogul's specialists will be available to talk about
how the right sleeving and EMI-shielding products can help companies prevent
damage from abrasion and EMI, as well as how self-wrapping sleeving is ideal
for reworking components without disconnecting them, reducing installation and
maintenance time and cost.
"In today's competitive aerospace market, nothing is more critical to
success than reliable, long-lasting, state-of-the-art technology and
equipment," said Janice Maiden, director of product development, Federal-
Mogul, Systems Protection. "Yet companies continue to lose time and money
because of wire and cable components that chafe or expose sensitive equipment
to electromagnetic interference due to the lack of proper protection. With
Federal-Mogul's broad product line, companies can reduce their maintenance and
repair costs by boosting equipment performance, preventing wire damage, and
reducing installation time."
Federal-Mogul is demonstrating the following products:
    *  Roundit(R) 2000 NX self-wrapping oversleeve -- This non-halogenated
oversleeve, constructed of a woven blend of Nomex and polyphenylene sulfide
(PPS) with an oil and water-repellent treatment, provides outstanding
protection of cable assemblies, hoses, and wire harnesses from chafing,
cutting, and abrading in aerospace applications. Rated to 200 degrees
Celsius, Roundit 2000 NX is ideal for high-temperature bundling and abrasion
resistance. It has passed the FAR Part 25 flammability test, a key criteria
for use on Federal Aviation Administration-approved aircraft. This self-
wrapping oversleeve can be applied or removed without disturbing connectors or
fittings.
    * Roundit 2000 NX Ptr -- Based on the original Roundit 2000 NX design,
Roundit 2000 NX Ptr incorporates an easy-to-see pink tracer to identify fuel
lines. It also retains the ivory tracer, which indicates the maximum
operating diameter, used in the original Roundit 2000 NX product. Its 100
percent covering ratio provides excellent cut-through and abrasion resistance,
and its wrappable design provides innovative solutions for the protection of
breakout areas as well as ease of removal when inspection or maintenance of
the cables is necessary.
    * R2000NX EMI - The first textile-based sleeving product to provide
electromagnetic interference protection for the aerospace industry, R2000NX
EMI is a dual layer product designed for mechanical protection and EMI
shielding. The outer, abrasion-resistant layer incorporates Nomex and PPS
with an oil and water repellent treatment, while the inner layer is made from
tin plated copper, which provides the EMI protection. Initial testing has
shown that this product can provide EMI shielding up to 80 dB at 100 MHz.
Based on the original Roundit construction, the self-wrapping feature of
R2000NX EMI allows for quick and easy installation and removal of the product
when necessary.
    * Expando 686DM - This halogen-free oversleeve resists damage from high
temperature air guns used with heat-shrinkable elements, such as strain
reliefs, terminations, and identification sleeves. Rated to 200 degrees
Celsius, the oversleeve is a UL-recognized component, meets VW-1 flammability
requirements, and has passed the FAR Part 25 flammability test. In addition,
it features low flammability, toxicity, smoke generation, and hard vacuum off-
gassing. The open-weave construction of Expando 686DM enables it to expand to
fit many application shapes and sizes and also prevents it from trapping
water, heat, and humidity.
