No Word From Subservient Chicken on Relationship With Burger King Corporation,
but That Could Be Because Subservient Chicken Can't Speak;
Subservientchicken.com also Mum;
However, 46 Million Hits (and Counting) to Site Say Something
MIAMI, April 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Sources close to Burger King Corporation
and the Subservient Chicken both confirmed today that the Subservient Chicken
has indeed been spotted with Burger King Corporation's new Spicy TenderCrisp
Chicken Sandwich, set to launch nationally on Monday, April 19. This follows
on the heels of the successful introduction of the TenderCrisp Chicken
Sandwich last month. Since its debut on March 19, the TenderCrisp Chicken
Sandwich has been a hit with Guests, steadily rising in sales at an average of
nine percent week-over-week.

The new Spicy TenderCrisp Chicken Sandwich pairs the popular TenderCrisp
chicken filet -- tender and juicy on the inside and crisp and flavorful on the
outside -- with a rich and bold spicy sauce for the ultimate mouth whuppin'
spicy chicken sandwich that provides great taste, not just heat.
"At BURGER KING(R) restaurants, our Guests can always have it their way,"
said Russ Klein, chief marketing officer, Burger King Corporation.
"Subservient Chicken is a powerful and certainly memorable visual message to
our Guests that when they visit with us, they have options beyond simply
letting them 'hold the pickle.' They are in charge."
Subservient Chicken quietly began its run into pop culture consciousness
several weeks ago -- suspiciously close to the debut of the TenderCrisp
Chicken Sandwich. Even more recently, Subservient Chicken received a huge
boost in popularity as the star of its very own Internet site,
http://www.subservientchicken.com, which has attracted more than 46 million hits (and
counting) since its launch on April 7. Visitors can command the Subservient
Chicken to perform various tasks by typing words or phrases into a command
box.
The site is so popular, its creators say, that it garners over several
hundred thousand viewers a day, who each spend on average almost seven minutes
per visit in their attempt to find a new task for Subservient Chicken to
perform. Some visitors, however, are simply trying to figure out what on earth
Subservient Chicken is doing after a command is entered.
Visitors to subservientchicken.com have not failed to notice that the site
sports a Burger King Corporation logo and a link to http://www.bk.com.
Mr. Klein declined to comment on the nature, terms or length of the
company's relationship with Subservient Chicken nor on Subservient Chicken's
rumored role in either the creation or promotion of the two TenderCrisp
Chicken Sandwiches. He did, however, say that it has been "nice to both work
with and offer compliant poultry."
According to the company, each Spicy TenderCrisp Chicken Sandwich is
obediently, some would say subserviently, made to order and begins with a
5.2 oz. whole chicken breast filet fried to golden perfection. It is placed on
the same billowy Corn-Dusted Bun as the original TenderCrisp Chicken Sandwich
and is then topped with the spicy sauce -- made of aged cayenne pepper,
mayonnaise and other high-quality ingredients -- fresh lettuce and juicy red
ripe tomatoes.
Guests who would like an even spicier experience can request extra sauce
on their freshly made Spicy TenderCrisp Chicken Sandwich. The suggested retail
price for the base sandwich is $3.29 and $4.99 for the value meal.
