GSE Systems Releases D/3 DCS(TM) Software Version 10.2 for the Control Of Process Plants

COLUMBIA, Md., April 16 /PRNewswire/ -- GSE Systems, Inc (Amex: GVP), a
leading global provider of process control solutions and real time simulation,
today announced it has released the latest version, 10.2, of its D/3 DCS(TM)
software used for the automation of process plants worldwide.
This new release, made available to customers in December 2000, furthers
GSE's strategy of providing an open system able to seamlessly communicate with
a variety of third party hardware and software. By allowing maximum
flexibility in selection of Input-Output (I/O) systems, customers can take
advantage of the latest control technology without costly replacement of their
plant hardware. The release also support GSE's vision of enabling the control
system to provide the necessary information for plant management to observe
and optimize plant operations.
D/3 Version 10.2 provides additional functionality and features to the D/3
DCS, which was first introduced in 1983. Among the many new features
available, Version 10.2 will offer users a Microsoft Windows 2000 operating
system, a ControlNet interface, Microsoft OLE (object linking and embedding)
for Process Control communications standard (OPC), and support for more I/O
families and Foundation Fieldbus devices.
GSE continues to preserve its customers' investment in application
software because D/3 Version 10.2 provides a migration path from earlier
systems, primarily from DEC OpenVMS, to Windows 2000, without compromising or
rewriting existing applications software or I/O.
"This upgrade is just one result of the product development course GSE set
in 1999. We have maintained our 'open system' product heritage while
expanding capabilities beyond the traditional control system. We look forward
to the continued development of the D/3 along that product roadmap, and we
will produce exciting new capabilities later this year and into the future."
said Dion Freedman, Vice President of GSE Process Solutions, Inc.
