Gateway Cuts the Cord

Gateway Delivers More Value With New Wireless Home Network
Offers Starting at $249(1) With Installation

SAN DIEGO, April 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Gateway, Inc. (NYSE: GTW)
today rolls out several Wireless Home Network offers supported by a new
national TV ad. In the latest step toward realizing its digital solutions
strategy, Gateway is aggressively marketing complete wireless solutions that
take the mystery out of home networking.
Gateway's Wireless Home Network Solutions are ideal for consumers who want
to connect two or more PCs to share a single high-speed Internet connection,
data and music files, and peripherals such as printers and scanners. The new
ad promotes Gateway's $499(1) Wireless Home Network Solution, which includes
the Intel AnyPoint(TM) Wireless II base station, desktop and notebook PC
connections, convenient on-site installation and three years of limited
warranty(2) coverage and technical support.
Today, Gateway also rolls out several new offers, which make wireless
networking an even better value when customers purchase a broadband
subscription or Gateway(R) notebook with an Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 Processor-M.
Customers who purchase a Gateway notebook with an Intel Pentium 4 Processor-M
can get the complete Wireless Home Network Solution for just $299(1) with
installation -- a $200 savings. This $299 offer is also available to
customers who purchase a broadband subscription from Gateway. And if the
customer's notebook PC already has integrated 802.11b wireless capability,
both of these offers are available for just $249(1).
The new TV commercial, which debuts tomorrow and features Gateway CEO Ted
Waitt and his talking Holstein cow, highlights the company's ability to
provide all the hardware, support and installation services consumers need to
network their homes. The TV spot begins with Ted sending up a flare for help
from his trusted advisor. The two meet to discuss wireless home networking
and agree on an offer that includes hardware and home installation. The
commercial was created by Gateway's advertising agency, Siltanen-Keehn.
"For households with multiple PCs, a wireless network means families can
share computing resources like never before -- kids can use a PC in their
bedroom to download music while their parents file and print their taxes from
a wireless notebook in the living room," said Mark Steele, vice president of
wireless solutions, Gateway, Inc. "Our exciting new offers that combine
wireless home networking with broadband and Mobile Pentium 4 help consumers
get more value, productivity and enjoyment out of their technology
investment."
"The combination of a high-speed broadband connection, Intel AnyPoint
wireless home network products, a Pentium 4 mobile processor and a Gateway's
Wireless Home Network installation service and ongoing support is a terrific
way to spread the value and power of the Internet throughout and around the
home," noted Barry Bonder, Director of Residential Gateway and Networking
Products at Intel Corporation. "Gateway is the market leader in offering
their customers comprehensive, cost-effective wireless home networks."
