DENVER, April 16 /PRNewswire/ -- First Data Corp. (NYSE: FDC), a global
leader in electronic commerce and payment services, today announced that its
Western Union Financial Services subsidiary has recently signed a multi-year
contract with Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI). BRI will offer Western Union Money
Transfer services in up to 1000 locations by the end of 2002. The addition of
BRI will bring Western Union's total number of agent locations in Indonesia to
more than 1400.
A specialist in Micro Banking, BRI serves millions of customers, including
a large population of overseas contract workers residing in the country's
rural regions. Many of the 1000 locations that will offer Western Union

Europe, the Middle East and Asia, who continue to send funds to loved ones
back home.
"With some of the largest migrant populations in the world and increasing
demand for quick, reliable money transfer services, Asia offers Western Union
some of its greatest growth potential," said William Thomas, president,
Western Union International. "Our relationships with Bank Rakyat Indonesia
and 35 other significant banking establishments, such as the Agricultural Bank
of China, demonstrate that Western Union is fast becoming a partner of choice
to the Asian banking community and to Asian consumers around the world."
"BRI recognizes the desire for quick, reliable money transfer services
among its customers," said Wayan Alit Antara, managing director, Bank Rakyat
Indonesia. "Teaming with Western Union allows us to provide the services our
customers need, thus furthering our goal of supporting economic development
throughout Indonesia, serving the entire society."
