FEV's Dr. Stefan Pischinger Named SAE Fellow

 SAE's highest grade of membership bestowed to leader of FEV Motorentechnik
                                    GmbH

    AUBURN HILLS, Mich., April 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Dr. Stefan Pischinger,
president and CEO of FEV Motorentechnik GmbH (FEV) of Aachen, Germany, has
been named an SAE Fellow by SAE International. FEV is the parent of FEV
Engine Technology, Inc. located in Auburn Hills, Mich.
    The SAE Fellow designation is the highest grade of membership bestowed
by SAE International. Pischinger will be formally recognized on April 17 at
the Honors Convocation at the 2007 SAE World Congress held in Detroit.
    Pischinger's Fellowship status was earned, according to SAE, through
his "sustained and outstanding contribution to combustion and emissions
control technology in gasoline spark ignition and diesel engines, exhaust
catalytic emissions control, CNG engine development and fuel cell
technology." He was also recognized for his leadership in international
cooperative research, education and technical society activities.
    The Fellowship program was established in 1975 and recognizes an
average of only 20 recipients worldwide for the honor each year.
    As head of FEV, Pischinger overseas a global enterprise with offices on
two continents and 1,300 highly skilled research and development
specialists. Founded in 1978 by Pischinger's father, Prof. Franz
Pischinger, FEV has grown to an internationally-recognized leader in the
design and development of internal combustion engines, and a major supplier
of advanced testing and instrumentation products and services to most of
the world's largest powertrain OEMs. More recently, FEV has gained
attention for its work in the development of all types of hybrid powertrain
systems, vehicle integration, and automotive electronics.
    Pischinger began his career as a research assistant at the Sloan
Automotive Laboratory at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where
he earned his PhD. He then went on to Daimler-Benz (later Mercedes-Benz AG)
where he served in a series of positions of increasing responsibility,
eventually heading the company's renowned diesel engine development
department. Upon leaving Mercedes, Pischinger joined FEV as executive vice
president and was named president in 2003.
    In addition to his responsibilities at FEV, Pischinger serves as the
Director of the Institute for Combustion Engines at Aachen University of
Technology, where he had earned a degree in mechanical engineering.
