St. Edith Wins JetToy Olympics at SAE 2008 World Congress

SAE CONGRESS - DETROIT, MI - APRIL 16, 2008: Asia Bailey, 11, and Tyler McNairy, 10, of Mae C. Jemison Academy were among the several hundred Detroit elementary school students to participate in the second annual JetToy Olympics held Wednesday at the SAE 2008 World Congress at Cobo Center. The competition was sponsored by "A World in Motion," an award-winning SAE program that challenges teams of students to engineer a balloon-powered toy car, which is judged for its speed, accuracy, distance, time and weight-carrying capabilities. Students from eight elementary schools participated in the program. More than four million students in grades K-12 have participated in the "A World in Motion" program. "A World in Motion," which is funded by the SAE Foundation, is designed to increase students' interest in engineering, science and technical careers.
