Ocean Energy Announces Internet Broadcast of First Quarter Earnings Conference Call

    HOUSTON, April 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Ocean Energy, Inc. (NYSE: OEI) will
broadcast its conference call in conjunction with the release of first quarter
earnings live over the Internet at 11 a.m. EST (10 a.m. CST) on Tuesday,
April 25, 2000.  James T. Hackett, Chairman, President and Chief Executive
Officer, and William L. Transier, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial
Officer, will lead the call.
    To join the Internet broadcast, log on to the following web site from a
computer that meets the minimum requirements described below:
