Ocean Energy Schedules First Quarter Earnings Conference Call and Webcast

    HOUSTON, April 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Ocean Energy, Inc. (NYSE: OEI) will
conduct a first quarter earnings conference call and live webcast at
9 a.m. Central / 10 a.m. Eastern on Wednesday, April 25, 2001.  James T.
Hackett, chairman of the board, president and chief executive officer, and
William L. Transier, executive vice president and chief financial officer,
will lead the call.
