JUNO BEACH, Fla., April 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Florida Power & Light Company's
Community Volunteer Corps and Habitat for Humanity will complete work on two
BuildSmart(R) - Habitat for Humanity homes on Saturday, April 21, 2001. The
homes are located on North Hepburn Avenue, in Jupiter, Florida.
"FPL was pleased to help ensure the homes met the BuildSmart standards for
energy efficiency," said Terry Yeager, FPL's BuildSmart representative.
"Anything we can do to help our customers conserve energy will also be cost-
effective for them," Yeager said.
"This program is good for all concerned. It provides affordable, energy-
efficient housing to those who need it most -- those who are earning
30-50 percent below the median income of Palm Beach County. Because the
project is built to FPL's BuildSmart standards it will be cost-effective to
operate, too," said Patricia Stidham, executive director of Lighthouse Habitat
for Humanity.
"We think it's perfect that the homes will be completed around the time
for the national Earth Day celebration, which is Sunday, April 22nd," said Lou
Motley, FPL employee and chairperson, for the Community Volunteer Corp. "The
Community Volunteer Corp, made up of FPL employees, their families and friends
contribute their time and talents to making our community a great place to
live and work," Motley said.
