New Addition Bolsters Gateway's Commitment
To Enhance Gateway Clients' Internet Experience
SAN DIEGO, April 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Gateway, Inc. (NYSE: GTW) moved today
to enhance its clients' control of their Internet experience by including Bo
Dietl's One Tough ComputerCOP software, from NetWolves Corporation, in all
Gateway consumer systems.
ComputerCOP provides computer users with the ability to simply and easily
monitor objectionable sites and materials which have been accessed over the
Internet or are otherwise resident in a computer.
"A primary reason our clients buy Gateway systems is to access the
Internet and we are dedicated to enhancing their Internet computing
experience," said Mike Ritter, director, product marketing, Gateway Consumer.
"ComputerCOP is another tool in our efforts to serve as a trusted technology
guide and help give our clients and their families ultimate control on the
Web."
All Gateway consumer systems will be pre-loaded with ComputerCOP software
that scans the system's hard drive looking for any documents containing
specific words or phrases, especially the buzzwords pertaining to drugs,
firearms, sex and pornography, found in its built-in dictionary. The user
then reviews the potentially objectionable text and images that ComputerCOP
has found.
"The Internet offers limitless potential to our clients," said Ritter.
"But in order to reach that potential Gateway is committed to making sure we
offer our clients the very latest methods to help give our clients control
over their Internet experience."
