Elmic's Turbo Treck TCP/IP Provides Packet Handling for Award Wining
Communications Device
SAN FRANCISCO, April 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Elmic Systems, Inc., a leading
supplier of embedded Internet protocols, today announced the Vocera
Communications System, utilizing the Turbo Treck TCP/IP embedded protocol
stack, attained finalist status in the Embedded Systems Conference 2003 Best
of Show Award.
The Vocera Communications System is comprised of a Windows 2000 based
server, system software, a local or wide area network and 802.11b wireless
access points. The system allows users to initiate calls by user ID, group,
location, or job function through a lightweight 4.2-inch clip-on communicator.
The system eliminates the shortcomings of two-way radios, cellular phones
and traditional telephone systems while retaining the most useful features
such as text messaging, call blocking and screening, conference calling and
more. Additionally, system administrators may use a "find" function that
relays where badges are in use, thus allowing them to quickly allocate
resources to a department needing assistance.
"Elmic Systems is extraordinarily proud to be part of exciting,
cutting-edge products such as the Vocera system. We recognize the need to
provide high quality protocol software for the future of wireless Internet and
other emerging market trends. The Vocera Communications system is indicative
of the types of products that will sweep the market in the coming years, said
Kevin McGuire, President of Elmic Systems, Inc.
The ESC Best of Show Award showcases end-user products that demonstrate
innovative applications of embedded technology that may find their way into
homes or affect the way we do business. All products chosen to participate in
the competition are on display during the conference taking place in
San Francisco's Moscone center April 23rd though 25th.
