ST. LOUIS, April 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Peabody Energy today
announced that Tayeb Tahir has been named Senior Vice President of Business
Development, with a focus on international expansion opportunities. Tahir
reports to Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Richard A.
Navarre.
"Tayeb brings to Peabody an excellent track record of capturing value
in the energy sector. His knowledge and experience in the domestic and
international coal, power and natural gas markets will enhance Peabody's
growth in the global coal markets and Btu conversion initiatives," said
Navarre.
Tahir has extensive engineering and management experience in the energy
industry, most recently serving as Vice President of Business Development
for Calpine Corporation. He previously held executive positions with EnerZ
Corporation, PIRA Energy Group and Consolidated Edison Company.
Tahir holds a Master of Business Administration from New York
University's Stern School of Business, a Master of Gas Technology from the
Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, and a Bachelor of Engineering
degree in Mechanical Engineering from NED University of Engineering in
Karachi, Pakistan.
