FEV Founder Prof. Franz F. Pischinger Awarded SAE Leadership Citation

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., April 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Prof. Franz F.
Pischinger, Chairman and founder of FEV Motorentechnik, GmbH (FEV), was
awarded the International Leadership Citation by the Society of Automotive
Engineers (SAE) on April 16, 2008 at the SAE's annual International
Reception during the SAE World Congress, held April 14-17 at Cobo Center in
Detroit. Prof. Pischinger was honored for the longstanding commitment,
leadership, and technical expertise that he has generously shared with the
SAE and its members. FEV, of Aachen, Germany, is the parent of FEV, Inc.,
located in Auburn Hills, Mich.

Pischinger led his company's involvement in SAE activities and the SAE
World Congress, beginning in 1965, over a span of 44 years. In that time he
has participated as a member, author, and organizer, and was awarded an SAE
Fellowship. Pischinger was instrumental in the development and support of
the FEV Powertrain Innovation Forum at the World Congress, which has become
an important venue for the presentation and discussion of critical issues
facing the powertrain development industry. Throughout his career,
Pischinger has lent his wealth of technical expertise to many SAE
activities around the world.

Pischinger founded FEV as a privately held company in 1978. At the
time, he headed the Institute for Applied Thermodynamics at the Technical
University of Aachen. Many current and past auto industry executives
studied under Prof. Pischinger and went on to take leading roles in the
automotive industry. After operating out of a small office in the
Augustinergasse in Aachen for two years, FEV opened its first test cell /
office building in 1980-1981. FEV expanded to North America in 1985.

As demand for the rapid development of advanced powertrain technologies
increased, FEV grew into what is now an internationally-recognized leader
in the design and development of internal combustion engines, hybrid
powertrain systems, vehicle integration, automotive electronics, and, most
recently, testing and integration of drivetrain subsystem components. FEV
is also a major supplier of advanced testing and instrumentation products
and services to most of the world's largest powertrain OEMs.

The SAE International Leadership Citation was instituted in 1988, and
was created to provide public recognition to an individual well known
internationally for continuous professional involvement and participation
with SAE.
