41st Design Automation Conference Plays Host to Final Interoperability Workshop June 7 in San Diego

Updates on Recent Efforts, Impending Challenges Highlight the Agenda

BOULDER, Colo., April 19 /PRNewswire/ -- The fifth and final Workshop on
Interoperability will be held at the 41st Design Automation Conference (DAC)
Monday, June 7, from noon to 5 p.m. at the San Diego Convention Center in San
Diego, Calif.
This year's workshop will offer an update on the interoperability
movement, Synopsys's Milkyway project, and the Open Access Coalition.
Speakers from semiconductor, system, and electronic design automation (EDA)
companies will describe their experiences and how these efforts deal with the
interoperability challenges facing the electronics industry. The workshop
will close with a panel discussion to address questions from the audience and
determine if further issues in interoperability warrant the need for another
Interoperability Workshop next year.
Organizers are John Darringer of IBM, Rahul Goyal from Intel, Scott
Makinen with HP, and Scott Peterson of LSI Logic.
Says Darringer: "The need for an Interoperability Workshop is not as
great as it was in 2000. The first workshop called attention to the demand
for a standard way to share chip design data in memory, instead of through
slow file I/O. Today it is happening -- productivity is improving and our
mission has been accomplished."
The Interoperability Workshop is open to anyone interested in the issues
surrounding interoperability. Registration fee is $50 for IEEE/ACM members
and $75 for non members. For more details, contact John Darringer at
(914) 945-2742 or via email at jad@us.ibm.com. To register for the workshop,
