Raytheon Company Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Daniel P. Burnham
honored the engineers and scientists responsible for the company's top
technological achievements of 2000 at an awards ceremony held last night.
Burnham and Raytheon Vice President of Engineering Philip Cheney presented
28 Excellence in Technology Awards to 93 Raytheon engineers and scientists.
These awards, the company's most prestigious honor, recognize the technical
achievements of individual contributors and project team members from across
the company.

the achievements include:
-- Development of advanced infrared seeker technology for the AIM-9X air-
to-air missile
-- Design of a secure portal to increase network security
-- Development of an integrated solution for a wireless communication
system for voice, video and data transmission onboard Navy ships
-- System design of new Multiple Platform Emitter Geolocation (MPEG)
capability aboard aircraft
-- Development of growth techniques to improve the quality and performance
of Gallium Arsenide technology for wireless communication
-- Development of discrimination technology for surface radars
-- First proper motion measurements of other galaxies
-- Architecture for monopulse secondary surveillance radar for air traffic
control
-- Design of a new business jet wing utilizing computational fluid
dynamics
