SAN FRANCISCO, EMBEDDED SYSTEMS CONFERENCE, April 21 /PRNewswire/ --
NEC Electronics America, Inc. today announced that a variety of its
semiconductor solutions for embedded product design are being showcased this
week in the NEC Electronics America booth (#2106) at Embedded Systems
Conference in the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco. Products
featured in a variety of displays and demonstrations include the company's
8- and 32-bit K0S, K0 and V850(TM) microcontrollers (MCUs), 32-/64-bit
MIPS-based VR Series(TM) microprocessors (MPUs), Instant Silicon Solution
Platform(TM) (ISSP(TM)) and embedded DRAM (eDRAM) for systems-on-chips (SoCs).
"NEC Electronics has played an important and long-standing role as a
leading solutions provider to embedded device developers and OEMs worldwide,"
said Bart Ladd, general manager, microcontroller strategic business unit, NEC
Electronics America, Inc. "Accordingly, NEC Electronics America has made a
considerable effort to provide customers with a variety of standard and custom
products to enable their embedded designs in the consumer, industrial,
automotive and communications markets."
NEC Electronics America's Demonstrations at Embedded Systems Conference:
-- 8- and 32-Bit Microcontrollers
NEC Electronics' 8-bit K0S and K0 families provide low-power,
high-performance controller solutions for a variety of industrial
and consumer appliance applications. The company simplifies
application design by offering low-cost emulators featuring K0
and K0S MCUs. To demonstrate the low-power operation of these
devices, the K0RE81 reference board will be powered by the
electrochemical energy of three lemons. Demonstrations at
Embedded Systems Conference highlighting the 32-bit V850 MCUs
include a low-cost networking solution featuring NEC Electronics'
V850 NetChip embedded software modem module and a sensorless
direct current (DC) motor control demonstration platform powered
by a V850E/IA1(TM) MCU.
-- VR Series Microprocessors
NEC Electronics' VR Series encompasses a range of highly efficient
32-/64-bit MPUs with power consumption and performance
capabilities ideal for applications from handheld devices to
high-end embedded systems. The stand-alone and integrated VR
Series processors combine with a rich development environment,
including reference designs and broad operating system support, to
reduce the time and cost to market for customers' products. VR
Series MPUs on display and featured in application demonstrations
at Embedded Systems Conference include the high-performance
VR5500(TM) and VR7701(TM) MPUs, the highly integrated and
low-power-consuming VR4181A(TM), and the VR4130(TM) family for
intelligently flexible integration and ultra-high efficiency.
-- ISSP
NEC Electronics ISSP products were designed to provide a low-cost
solution for mid-volume ASIC design combining the fast turnaround
times of FPGAs with the performance characteristics of traditional
cell-based ASICs. The ISSP architecture uses a five-metal-layer
design with two easily customizable upper layers to accommodate
individual design requirements. The bottom three layers are
predefined with NEC Electronics' intellectual property (IP) and
design-for-test (DFT) blocks, and include circuitry to minimize
signal integrity and clock skew issues. Product representatives
will be in the booth for discussion about these products.
-- Embedded DRAM
NEC Electronics' eDRAM technology provides the ability to embed
blocks of high-performance DRAM directly into SoC designs with
random access speeds greater than 314 megahertz (MHz) at 1.2 volts
(V). NEC Electronics' eDRAM is fully compatible with the
company's 0.13-- and 0.15-micron process technologies, allowing
customers to easily integrate standard DRAM with NEC Electronics'
CMOS-based IP, making it a compelling solution for
high-performance applications such as routers, storage servers,
cache memory and high-end graphics systems. Product
representatives will be in the booth for discussion about this
technology.
