NEW YORK, April 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Merrill Lynch today announced that
Olympic gold medalists Dominique Dawes and Cammi Granato will participate in
"Take Our Daughters To Work" Day on Thursday, April 23rd at the company's
headquarters. Dominique Dawes was one of the seven American gymnasts who won
the team gold medal at the 1996 Atlanta games, and she won an individual
bronze medal in floor exercise. Cammi Granato was the captain of the
gold-medal-winning U.S. women's ice hockey team at the 1997 Nagano games.
More than 400 girls between the ages of 9 and 15 will take part in Merrill
Lynch's program. Dominique Dawes, age 21, will kick off the event with an
informal talk followed by questions and answers. The girls will then
participate in workshops centered on this year's theme of "Imagine a Day."
Before lunch Cammi Granato, age 27, will speak followed by questions and
answers. The presentations by Ms. Dawes and Ms. Granato will be broadcast
live to Merrill Lynch branch offices around the country and girls in those
offices will be able to take part in the question and answer sessions. After
lunch, the girls will "shadow" their sponsors.

Day is designed to encourage young women to begin to consider career goals and
opportunities. Merrill Lynch holds programs at its headquarters in New York
City and at offices in Jersey City, Somerset and Princeton, New Jersey. This
is the sixth year Merrill Lynch has participated in "Take Our Daughters To
Work" Day.
Dominique Dawes enrolled at Hill's Gymnastics in Maryland at the age of
6 and has been at the gym and with coach Kelli Hill ever since. She began
competing with the United States Senior National Team in 1991 and, at the age
of 15, was a member of the 1992 Olympic team, winners of a bronze medal. In
1996 as a member of the "Magnificent Seven," the United States women's Olympic
gymnastics team, Ms. Dawes won bronze with her floor exercise and helped the
team earn a gold medal overall. Ms. Dawes is the first African-American to
represent the United States in women's gymnastics.
Cammi Granato began playing ice hockey with her brothers in their hometown
of Downers Grove, Illinois, when she was 5 years old. She played on the
Providence College women's team and the U.S. national team. Women's ice
hockey made its debut at the 1997 Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan, where as
captain, she led the U.S. team to gold.
