Distinctive New Designs Are Easier to Use and Reflect
Advanced Technology and Outstanding Craftsmanship
SAN DIEGO, April 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- To give its customers PCs
with looks that rival their powerful interiors, Gateway (NYSE:GTW) today
introduces a new design for the Gateway(R) 500 series, the first in a series
of sleek new computers featuring an all-new look that soon will distinguish
the entire Gateway desktop product line. (See Press Release, "Beauty is More
Than Skin Deep.")
The new system incorporates an elegant platinum case with tasteful
graphite accents that speaks volumes about the cutting-edge technology inside.
With the new design, Gateway takes PC craftsmanship to a new level. The
Gateway 500's plastic and metal casing is more than double the thickness of
many standard PC designs, creating a stronger and more durable system.
"The eye-catching new designs reflect how our customers are using the
power of their PC -- as a productivity, communication and entertainment tool,"
said Bart Brown, Gateway senior vice president. "The new design looks great
and incorporates features that set Gateway apart as the industry value-leader
-- including LCD monitors, a compact form factor and ease-of-use
capabilities."
The new desktop design not only looks great, it's easier to use and
upgrade. Setting up and using the Gateway 500 is fast and simple with six
USB 1.1 connectors that can be accesses from the front or back of the system
and lots of room for expandability. Plus, the Gateway 500 is broadband -- and
network-ready.
Businesses will appreciate that servicing and upgrading the Gateway 500
can be done quickly and easily. The entire chassis can be opened and upgraded
without a single tool. The motherboard and add-in cards can be accessed by a
thumbscrew and drives are mounted on an easy slide lock mechanism. And during
office moves or for inventory, the Gateway 500 series computers can be stacked
on top of one another to make these projects easier and consume less space.
The Gateway 500 series combines the high performance of Intel(R)
Pentium(R) 4 Processors with the robust Microsoft(R) Windows(R) XP Home or
Professional operating system at industry-leading values. Home and business
buyers will be able to stretch their computing dollar further with the Gateway
500 series, which comes in several configurations to fit the needs and budgets
of a range of computer users.
