COLUMBIA, Md., April 23 /PRNewswire Interactive News Release/ -- GSE
Systems, Inc. (Amex: GVP), a leading global provider of process control
solutions and real time simulation, today announced recent contract awards for
its newly released D/3 Version 10.2 Process Control System.
The first contract was received from the U.S. Department of Energy through
Kaiser-Hill LLC for a D/3 system upgrade at the Rocky Flats Environmental
Technology Site in Golden, Colorado. The D/3 system to be upgraded at the
Rocky Flats site provides the primary automation interface for controlling and
monitoring building ventilation systems in an environment where highly toxic
and hazardous materials may exist. The D/3 System has been utilized at the
site for over 10 years.
Illustrating another of the major advantage of the D/3 system, Kaiser-Hill
is able to upgrade its existing system to today's technology without losing
its previous engineering investment. The Rocky Flats system, which currently
operates under D/3 version 3.0, will be upgraded from a Vax/VMS operating
system and computing platform to an Intel/Windows 2000 operating system and
platform without compromising or replacing existing applications software or
I/O, saving thousands of man hours of engineering effort and corresponding
costs.
The second contract is from Cone Mills Corporation for their Carlisle
Finishing Plant in Carlisle, South Carolina. The D/3 system is responsible
for the majority of the 13 process lines at the Cone Mills Plant. The plant
uses GSE's VP Total Vision (VPTV) product to link information from the plant
floor to Corporate Management. VPTV, developed in conjunction with GSE's
Virtual Plant business, will provide live process graphics and performance
information from the plant control system via the Company's Intranet to
Corporate Management. This will improve Cone Mills' business decision
capability and allow them to make higher quality products at a faster pace.
Dion Freedman, Vice President of Process Solutions, stated, "We are very
pleased with the response and interest our D/3 version 10.2 has created in the
process control market, with features that can improve plant performance for
both new and existing customers. Customers are recognizing the benefits of
the D/3 not only to reliably control their plant, but to also provide real-
time information to plant management for optimal decision making."
