SBS Technologies First to Employ New Farsight Designs and NVIDIA GPUs
With Integrated Memory for CompactPCI and VME Based SBCs

SAN FRANCISCO, April 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Quantum3D(R), Inc. today announced
enhancements to the Farsight(TM) program -- which expands Quantum3D's
offerings of NVIDIA Corporation (Nasdaq: NVDA) GeForce(TM) and NVIDIA
Quadro(R) families of mobile graphics processing units (GPUs) into embedded
applications that require integrated memory and a pin-compatible family of
scalable graphics capabilities. The new Farsight program employs the Mobile
AGP Package (MAP) versions of NVIDIA(R) GPUs which are ideal for performance
sensitive embedded visual computing applications that require small
footprints, custom form factors, low power, long life cycles and seamless
technology insertion. Today, Quantum3D also announced its first design win
for the enhanced Farsight program with SBS Technologies(R), Inc. (Nasdaq:
SBSE). SBS is integrating the NVIDIA MAP GPU technology with integrated memory
into new VME and CompactPCI Single Board Computers (SBCs). Quantum3D's
products are on display until April 25, 2003 at the Embedded Systems
Conference in San Francisco, booth #2608.

Since its inception in 2001, Quantum3D's Farsight program has been meeting
the realtime 2D/3D graphics and video performance requirements of custom form
factor embedded graphics applications, which includes both military and
commercial aviation, ground vehicle, naval vessel and man portable "smart
displays" and embedded training applications. With the addition of NVIDIA(R)
GeForce(TM) GPUs that feature 16, 32 or 64 MB of integrated memory and NVIDIA
Quadro GPUs with 64 MB of integrated memory, the Farsight program can now
support volume embedded visualization applications that require lower design
and deployment costs, faster time to market, greater design flexibility and
intrinsic technology insertion. With these new integrated memory designs,
Farsight program licensees are able to address a range of embedded graphics
requirements by merely populating different pin-compatible and software
compatible GPUs that fit within the same BGA footprints.
"Our initial Farsight reference designs are primarily focused on avionics
applications which required discrete memory implementations for absolute
maximum performance," said Ross Q. Smith, Quantum3D co-founder and executive
vice president of business development and marketing. "With these new
integrated memory offerings, Farsight can now bring the flexibility and power
of NVIDIA GPU technology to the broadest range of embedded applications --
from legacy graphics chip replacement on volume SBCs to new applications like
medical imaging and communications."
The first design win for Quantum3D Farsight MAP program is with SBS
Technologies. SBS will be integrating Quantum3D's Farsight reference designs
into its award-winning family of CompactPCI and VME single board computers.
This new effort marks the first time that integrated 3D graphics have been
employed on SBS computers.
"We have had tremendous interest in our Sentiris(TM) PMC offering,
licensed from Quantum3D last year, aimed at meeting the most demanding needs
of the military and aerospace embedded graphics market," said Frank Willis,
SBS Technologies' vice president of business development. "We found that our
customers also want an integrated, Sentiris-compatible solution for broader
market segments as the needs for advanced graphics expand. Quantum3D's new
Farsight offerings that employ the NVIDIA MAP GPUs are perfect for such
applications."

    About Farsight
Farsight is the exclusive Quantum3D program aimed at bringing the power of
NVIDIA graphics technology to unique form factor and "graphics down" embedded
military and aerospace applications where standard form factor graphics
subsystems, such as Sentiris PMC are not applicable. Under the auspices of
the program, Quantum3D provides PCI or AGP reference designs, companion video
designs, board level schematics, diagnostics, driver and utility software, as
well as volume GPU kits that enable Farsight licensees to integrate NVIDIA
GPU-based graphics subsystems with comprehensive video capabilities into
avionics, vetronics, shipboard and man-portable embedded visual computing.
Quantum3D Farsight Program designs are compatible with Intel(R) or PowerPC(R)
architecture systems under Microsoft(R) Windows(R), Linux and Wind River(R)
VxWorks(R) operating systems. For details on the Farsight Program or other
Quantum3D embedded visual computing offerings, please contact Quantum3D at
