Fujitsu Microelectronics America to Demonstrate New Microcontrollers, IP-Phone, Graphics Controllers, Biometric Sensor ICs at Annual Embedded Systems Conference

New AccelArray Design Technology and PFU's Fast-Scan Access in Booth 1916

    SAN FRANCISCO, April 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Fujitsu Microelectronics America's
(FMA) new IP-Phone chip and new microcontrollers for automotive, industrial
and consumer appliances, together with the company's biometric sensor ICs and
graphics display controller products, will be featured in FMA's booth at the
Embedded Systems Conference in San Francisco, April 23-25.
At booth 1916 at the Moscone Center, FMA is introducing its new
AccelArray(TM) technology, designed to reduce development costs and provide
the performance of cell-based ASICs with the flexibility of FPGAs. In the same
booth, Panasonic Fujitsu Systems, Inc. (PFU) will demonstrate a fast-scan
access solution using Fujitsu's MBF200 CMOS fingerprint sensor in an embedded
computing platform with networking capability. The solution scans, performs
feature extraction, provides a quick match against enrolled templates, and can
store and distribute the data over a high-speed network.

    IP-Phone Built Around Custom DSP
FMA's IP-Phone chip is a highly integrated single chip including DSP and
RISC functions along with memory and peripherals to provide a very
cost-effective solution for small office and home office telephony systems.
IP-Phone requires far lower power and cost than competitive products. Fujitsu
is now providing a complete reference design platform and comprehensive
software so equipment manufacturers can begin new designs immediately. (See
accompanying release.)
"Our product line-up this year features an important theme: excellent
value and performance at optimal prices," said Keith Horn, FMA's vice
president of marketing. "We are providing products and technology that meet
the price/performance requirements of today's networking, automotive, security
and other key markets."

New 8-, 16-, 32-bit Microcontrollers Deliver Optimal Performance
    Fujitsu's new 32-bit and 16-bit general-purpose and application-specific
MCUs include flash memory and Control Area Network (CAN) interfaces in either
dual or triple channels, maximizing performance in cost-sensitive
applications. A new 8-bit MCU incorporates the Local Interconnect Network
(LIN) interface, which has emerged as a proven, low-cost communications
standard for vehicle networks. (See accompanying releases.)
Fujitsu Microelectronics America, Inc. (FMA) leads the industry in
innovation. FMA provides high-quality, reliable semiconductor products and
services for the networking, communications, automotive, security and other
markets throughout North and South America. For product information, visit the
