POWAY, Calif., April 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Building on the momentum
of its recent rackmount server launch, Gateway, Inc. (NYSE: GTW) today
delivers enhanced software and support for its entire line of systems and
networking products -- offering both a new version of Gateway Server Manager
systems management software and Microsoft Windows Server 2003 support.

By providing industry-leading capabilities in its systems and networking
portfolio, Gateway's new solutions will help customers more effectively manage
the reliability and security of their server networks -- reducing IT costs and
boosting overall productivity.
"Gateway has a tradition of being an industry leader in consumer PC
products," said Scott Weinbrandt, general manager of Gateway's Systems and
Networking Products Group. "With the launch of Gateway Server Manager,
Windows Server 2003 support, and our new rackmount servers, we're putting a
stake in the ground that Gateway is serious about the systems business as
well. The bottom line is Gateway's systems and networking solutions will help
business and institutional customers improve their productivity and save
money."
The new version of Gateway Server Manager (GSM), which fully supports
Windows Server 2003, is available today and is supported across Gateway's
entire line of servers. Gateway Server Manager extends the capabilities of an
IS staff by enabling easy and complete management of Gateway servers. GSM
features in-band, out-of-band and Web-based communication to the servers,
making it easier for IT managers to make updates, diagnose issues and re-boot
Gateway machines within any existing IT environment.
In addition, GSM software supports IPMI 1.5, an industry open standard,
allowing it to interoperate in heterogeneous environments and providing snap-
in capabilities to all major enterprise network management systems, such as HP
OpenView, IBM Tivoli and CA UniCenter. GSM also supports the Windows MMC
interface, providing the same, easy-to-use look-and-feel of Windows-based
applications.
Microsoft Windows Server 2003 support, also available today, will be
offered on Gateway's entire line of server products, both tower and rackmount.
Unlike many server vendors, Gateway helps to ensure customer satisfaction by
providing ongoing service and support, such as 24x7 phone support from a team
of in-house Microsoft certified engineers.
"The high reliability, availability and performance of Windows Server 2003
is the perfect match with Gateway's focus on providing customers with a full
line of industry-proven server solutions," said Bob O'Brien, Group Product
Manager, Windows Server Division, Microsoft. "Gateway's launch of Windows
Server 2003 support today is yet another testament to the strategic
relationship between Microsoft and Gateway in the systems and networking
business. Together, we continue to deliver customers tremendous business
value."
The Gateway systems and networking enhancements announced today come on
the heels of the company's recently introduced 955 and 975 servers: high-
density 1U or 2U servers featuring mission-critical performance in a compact
form factor. Led by Weinbrandt, a former Dell server executive, Gateway's
Systems & Networking Products Group is developing a full portfolio of high-
performance products and services dedicated to the corporate, SMB and
institutional market segments.
