South Atlanta In-Store Office is First of 30 in Metro Area
ATLANTA, April 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- When the new Kroger store
opens in South Atlanta, Atlanta's newest bank will open as well. This Sunday,
April 28, National Bank of Commerce opens its first metro branch inside the
new Kroger store at 1160 Moreland Avenue. Kroger's grand opening is at 2 p.m.
"We have been waiting for this day for quite some time, and could not be
more excited about opening our first metro Atlanta location," said Cliff
Davis, Atlanta region president for National Bank of Commerce (NBC). "We plan
to open over 30 branches in Kroger stores over the next two years. All will
be full-service and conveniently located inside metro Atlanta's favorite
supermarket."
NBC will open nine additional Kroger branches on May 13. In time, the
company will open free-standing branches in Atlanta as well, following a
trademark "hub and spoke" expansion model under which each traditional branch
is surrounded by several in-store branches. "It's a strategy that allows
customers to use whichever kind of branch they prefer," Mr. Davis said.
NBC has hired nearly 50 metro Atlanta people, including Moreland Avenue
branch manager Jacqueline Morgan. Ms. Morgan is a resident of Mableton and a
graduate of Georgia State University.
In addition to convenient locations, NBC competes with competitive CD and
money market account rates and a totally free checking account that requires
no minimum balance or deposit limit -- rare terms in the Atlanta marketplace.
NBC's location on Moreland Avenue will be open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday
through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. All new NBC branches will
offer consumer and business banking services, such as checking and savings
accounts, as well as an array of financial services including mortgages, home
equity loans, money market accounts, and commercial and business loans.
Customers can bank anytime at the on-site ATMs, as well as access their
accounts 24 hours a day via NBC's telebanking service at 1-800-NBCBANK, or
online through http://www.nbcbank.com.
Along with its Atlanta expansion, NCB recently opened six branches in
Savannah, and has an existing 17 branches in North Georgia.
