PITTSBURGH, April 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, PENNDOT launched a re-designed
epenndot.com with more traffic and road construction information than ever.
The website is The Official, first-stop source of information for the latest
news on all Pittsburgh area PENNDOT sponsored construction projects, alternate
routes, traffic conditions and weather.
With over 13 million hits, epenndot.com is the top project related website
in Pennsylvania. In addition, PENNDOT has received more than 2,000 e-mails
from the website and the free 24-hour live help desk has answered more than
10,000 phone calls.
"The public's response to the information campaign about our highway and
bridge projects has been overwhelming, especially from the information highway
on our epenndot.com website," said PENNDOT information officer Dick Skrinjar.
"epenndot.com has become the central point of connecting with motorists and
based on their feedback we're expanding it to meet their needs."
The newly refurbished website provides visitors with detailed alternate
route information, virtual tours and current updates. Motorists can also find
information on several other projects taking place in Western Pennsylvania,
including the Beaver Valley Expressway and Freeport Road in Harmar Township.
PENNDOT is resurfacing and reconstructing roadways and bridges across the
region this year.
The new features on epenndot.com also include current road conditions from
PENNDOT's Road Weather Information System (RWIS), traffic flow, weather
forecasts and even more traffic cameras.
Log on to epenndot.com to see the new look, new features and to find more
information on PENNDOT projects including the Fort Pitt Bridge and Tunnel
Reconstruction, or call the free 24-hour live help desk at 1-877-450-4279.
