FTSE/Xinhua China 25 Index Closes at 7,395.08, up +24.46 (+0.33%)

    SHANGHAI, China, April 28 /PRNewswire/ -- The closing price for the
FTSE/Xinhua China 25 Index (NYSE: FXT) for Wednesday, April 28, 2004 was
7,395.08.  This was up 0.33 percent from the previous day's close.
    The FTSE/Xinhua China 25 Index closed slightly up on futures-linked
trading ahead of tomorrow's Hang Seng April contract expiry, dealers contacted
by Xinhua Financial Network said.
    The FTSE/Xinhua China Index is a tradable index for international
investors seeking to track the prospects of the largest 25 companies in the
People's Republic of China.  It is one of a series of indices jointly produced
by Xinhua Financial Network and the FTSE which is jointly owned by the
Financial Times Group Ltd., a unit of Pearson PLC and the London Stock
Exchange.
    FTSE/Xinhua Index Limited ("FXI") is a Hong Kong incorporated, joint
