VANCOUVER, Wash., April 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Electric Lightwave, Inc.
(Nasdaq: ELIX) today announced the completion of a 569-mile long haul fiber
optic route from Portland to Spokane.
The company also announced the opening of a Spokane sales office and the
execution of a contract to construct an additional 300-mile long haul route
from Spokane to Seattle that would complete a northwestern SONET-ring network.
The extension adds another important long haul route to link Electric
Lightwave's northwestern markets.
"This long haul expansion to Spokane and the planned construction to

"In fact," Sharkey added, "with the addition of our sales office in
Spokane, we expect to turn up a full-service switching facility by the end of
the summer. Spokane businesses will have the advantage of using our
high-bandwidth data services as well as local and long distance service from a
single provider."
