Fortis Health President and CEO to Speak on Capitol Hill

Cutler Expected to Provide Information on Innovative Insurance Products, And
Federal Legislative Initiatives to Increase Consumer Access

MILWAUKEE, April 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Ben Cutler, President and CEO of
Milwaukee-based Fortis Health, will discuss innovative health insurance
products, federal legislative initiatives and consumer access on Wednesday,
May 1, from 10 a.m. until noon, on Capitol Hill at the Rayburn House Office
Building, Room 2253. Cutler was invited by the Council for Affordable Health
Insurance and The Galen Institute to participate in the event titled, "The
Insurance Industry Responds to a Changing Market."
"I'm excited to share Fortis Health's leadership and commitment to
providing innovative solutions for growing healthcare needs," said Cutler.
"We continue to anticipate and respond to the needs of consumers and employers
alike by developing a range of affordable and accessible insurance products
for individuals and small businesses."
In his presentation, Cutler will discuss Fortis Health's 110-year history
and leadership role in the health insurance industry. He will comment on the
current state of both the individual and small group insurance markets,
elaborating on the importance of expanding coverage to individuals currently
not served within those markets. In addition, Cutler will highlight Fortis
Health's strong advocacy of continued work to create high-risk pools, approve
tax credits for the purchase of private coverage and increase consumer
awareness of short term insurance as an affordable alternative to COBRA for
many individuals.
Fortis Health's innovative products will also be a focus of Cutler's
remarks. They include Medical Savings Accounts (MSAs) -- also known as Health
Accounts, which combine a pre-tax savings account and high-deductible health
insurance policy; Short Term Medical, designed to fill short gaps in health
insurance between 30 and 185 days; and defined contribution and
non-traditional products. Fortis Health is the nation's leader in both MSAs
and Short Term Medical. Short Term Medical is ideal for generally healthy
individuals such as those who are laid-off or between jobs, new employees in
the waiting period for coverage to begin, college graduates, and early
retirees with a short wait for Medicare coverage. Short Term Medical costs a
fraction of COBRA and is easy to obtain.
