Adelphia to Deploy Beginning Summer 2004
PORTLAND, Ore., April 30 /PRNewswire/ -- nCUBE, a proven supplier of
scalable VOD and digital advertising systems, and Digeo Inc., a leading
provider of media center software and services, announced an agreement to
integrate nCUBE's nABLE interactive management software and video server with
Digeo's Moxi(TM) software platform for deployment on Motorola's Broadband
Media Center (BMC) 9000 Series media centers.
Adelphia Communications Corporation, the nation's fifth-largest cable
television company, will trial the integrated solution in selected markets in
the greater Los Angeles region starting in Summer 2004.
"We are focused on delivering the most exciting and compelling digital
television experience possible which requires making VOD easy to promote, easy
to browse and easy to order," said Jim Billmaier, Chief Executive Officer of
Digeo. "We are very pleased to work with nCUBE, an industry leader in
providing a scalable, interoperable platform for VOD, to provide Adelphia
subscribers easy access to popular on-demand content."
"This agreement validates nCUBE's longstanding commitment to
interoperability and we are proud to partner with Digeo to further the
market," said Michael Pohl, president and CEO, nCUBE Corporation. "Bringing
advanced on-demand services to market requires an open, robust infrastructure
that can adapt to individual operator and market dynamics."
Moxi delivers consistent navigation features that provide viewers with
easy access to thousands of VOD titles in the same way as they access the rest
of their digital cable services. Throughout the Moxi Menu, VOD titles have
prominent multiple placements alongside live broadcast and show listings
making it easier for viewers to find titles and initiate the purchase process.
nCUBE's VOD solution, which includes a scalable hardware platform and an
experienced project management team, utilizes an open, interoperable
architectural design to deliver on-demand services. nCUBE's video server
provides separable storage and delivery capabilities that grow with consumer
demand and that eliminate duplicated content and excess storage costs. nABLE
is an on-demand management system built with Web services technologies that
delivers a complete set of VOD business management and technical operations
tools, including real-time and historical intelligence reports.
