IRVING, Texas, May 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Exxon Mobil Corporation (NYSE: XOM)
announced today that customers may now use either their Exxon or Mobil credit
card at all Exxon and Mobil branded service stations in the United States.
The capability to accept either credit card at Exxon and Mobil stations
was achieved in less than six months after the formal merger of the two oil
companies on November 30, 1999. Both consumer and commercial credit cards
will be accepted at Exxon and Mobil stations.
"This is a significant achievement that will be of enormous benefit to our
customers, who told us they wanted to be able to use either credit card at
both branded stations," said Hal Cramer, president of ExxonMobil Fuels
Marketing Company. "In fact, more than seven out of 10 motorists say that
convenience is a leading reason why they choose a service station. By
accepting both proprietary credit cards, we offer a customer with either a
Mobil or an Exxon credit card the convenience of filling up at more than
14,000 stations nationwide."
The cross acceptance of Exxon and Mobil credit cards will be of particular
benefit to customers who travel frequently because it will allow them to use
their preferred payment method even when outside their preferred brand's
trading area.
Beginning in June, the prepaid Exxon Driver Cash Card and Mobil Go Card
will also be accepted at both Exxon and Mobil stations.
To obtain an Exxon or Mobil credit card, consumers may apply online at
http://www.exxon.mobil.com and click on Consumer Services, or call 1-800-GET-EXXON
(1-800-438-3996) for an Exxon Card or 1-800-266-6624 for a Mobil Card.
Consumers can also pick up applications at their Exxon or Mobil service
station. The station locator at http://www.exxon.mobil.com will help consumers
locate their nearest Exxon or Mobil station.
