ExxonMobil Receives Texas Star Award from the University of Texas at Austin College of Engineering

AUSTIN, Texas, Feb. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- The University of Texas at Austin's
School of Engineering honored Exxon Mobil Corporation with the third annual
Texas Star Award. The award is given to a company that has excelled in
supporting a key initiative of the College of Engineering. ExxonMobil was
chosen over 400 companies because of the extensive alumni involvement of its
employees and substantial financial support to the College.
"ExxonMobil's contribution in engaging our alumni in many of the College's
activities, including the UT ExxonMobil Nite Event, recruiting efforts and
departmental advisory committees, clearly exemplifies the ideals of the Texas
Star Award," said Ben G. Streetman, Dean, UT-Austin College of Engineering.
"ExxonMobil has played a key role in stimulating employee philanthropy to the
College through the Friends of Alec Program and the company's matching gift
program."
In addition to the active involvement of ExxonMobil employees in alumni
programs, the ExxonMobil Foundation awarded more than $400,000 in 1999 to The
University of Texas at Austin through the foundation's matching gift program.
For the fourth straight year, the foundation's contribution represented the
nation's largest matching gift program in support of higher education.
