6th Annual MHTA Partnering Conference Focuses on Importance of Collaboration To Help Survive Tough Economic Times

       DTED Commissioner Matt Kramer Featured as Event Keynote Speaker

    MINNEAPOLIS, May 1 /PRNewswire/ -- The Minnesota High Tech Association is
pleased to announce that Matt Kramer, Commissioner of the Minnesota Department
of Trade and Economic Development will be this year's keynote speaker at the
6th Annual MHTA Partnering & Collaboration Conference on Wednesday, May 7 at
the Minneapolis Hilton.
    Matt Kramer was appointed commissioner of the Minnesota Department of
Trade and Economic Development (DTED) in January 2003. During his keynote
address Kramer will share his insights on the value of partnerships and
alliances, and discuss the importance of building strong relationships between
government and industry.
    The MHTA Partnering & Collaboration Conference will deliver key
information about partnering in this challenging business climate through
keynotes and panel discussions. The conference will also include a Partnering
Expo with opportunities for companies to showcase their partnering and
collaboration opportunities.
    The MHTA Partnering & Collaboration Conference takes place Wednesday, May
7, at the Minneapolis Hilton.  The event will begin at 10 am and feature
morning sessions that cover some of the business "Essentials of Partnering"
including marketing and promotion as well as legal and financial aspects.  The
afternoon sessions will showcase different types of partnering models such as
industry to industry in addition to collaborations between the private sector
and government entities and educational institutions.  Some panel discussions
will be presentations on actual case studies.
    This conference will address Partnering and Collaboration as important
opportunities that have become key strategic initiatives for many businesses.
Attendees will discuss examples of how other companies have worked as partners
to increase marketing leverage and decrease investment risk from many
perspectives.
    One of the highlighted sessions is a panel with members from Best Buy,
Jostens and Thomson/West discussing "The New Collaborative Work Space: An
Overview of the Project Avalanche Model".  They will be sharing the details of
an effort sponsored by a group of local companies that are organizing to
exchange knowledge, experience, intellectual property and resources.  The goal
of the effort is for corporations to increase control and decrease the total
cost of ownership of information technology solutions within the enterprise.
