PNI Introduces its iLink TNPP Internet Router

ATLANTA, May 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Preferred Networks, Inc.
(OTC Bulletin Board: PFNT) (PNI), a leading provider of network services to
the wireless industry and a developer and supplier of advanced communications
networking products, today reported that it has introduced its iLink TNPP
Internet router.
The iLink router utilizes the Internet for networking of wireless
messaging traffic (TNPP) between multiple locations. The iLink assigns
virtual ports to remote addresses, thereby reducing the cost to many network
carriers of processing traffic at central hub points. Because the iLink
connects to the Internet, it reduces the need for serial port connections,
resulting in a smaller, less expensive hardware design than many traditional
routers.
The iLink combines PNI's proprietary software with the multi-tasking
environment of a QNX-based operating system, allowing technicians to remotely
monitor links and perform diagnostics on an individual subscriber level.
iLink features include extremely flexible routing and translation tables that
allow multi-port routing, and translation between traffic formats, channels
and zones.
Mark Dunaway, CEO of PNI, said, "The iLink product represents another
innovative solution by PNI for advanced communications networking. We believe
the iLink provides a powerful tool to businesses by allowing them to extend
their market reach without the burden of costly remote technical facilities.
As with our other networking products, the iLink brings the power and ubiquity
of Internet transport to the wireless marketplace." Dunaway added, "We are
extremely pleased with the pace of introduction of new products based on our
networking technologies. We began to ship our iTerminal(TM) products in the
first quarter, and with shipments of the iLink router, we have now made the
second product available to the marketplace. We are also presently taking
customer orders for the Platform1(TM) modular switch and we will begin the
first shipments during this quarter."
PNI was founded in 1991 to provide unbranded, wholesale one-way wireless
messaging network services to companies for resale to their customers. In
pursuing this strategy, PNI developed a number of advanced networking
technologies aimed at increasing its efficiency as a network operator. During
1999, PNI completed development of its intelligent, high-speed switching
technology and began to commercialize related products for sale to other
companies. This technology creates networking solutions that provide
companies with greater processing efficiencies, cost savings, and an open
platform to bring them closer to their customers through unified service
offerings. In early 2000, PNI began to ship its first software enhanced
networking products and is developing a number of additional hardware,
software and service offerings to address each of the wireless, fixed network
and Internet marketplaces. With the introduction of its networking products,
PNI has augmented its one-way wireless network services and is evolving into a
developer and supplier of advanced communications hardware and software
products. PNI's address on the World Wide Web is: http://www.pniaccess.com

challenges to the validity of patents on PNI's switching technology). PNI
operates in a highly competitive marketplace and new product developments by
competitors can occur at any time, thereby diminishing the attractiveness of
PNI's products.
